Engineering Manager

Ensuring Chart s Success


Manages and coordinates activities of the Engineering and Drafting teams to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques and develop standard procedures. Confers with management and production staff to determine engineering feasibility and cost effectiveness. Forecasts operating costs and directs preparation of budget requests.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be


  • Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals of the engineering organization, including the integration of technical activities as required.
  • Ability to regularly and predictably attend work and be punctual
  • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the department.
  • Work with Air-X-Changers sales team, customers, and engineers to identify and refine potential R&D opportunities.
  • Responsible for understanding the operation of air coolers and conceiving and proposing new methods to improve their operation and cost efficient manufacture.
  • Analyze the results of experimental programs and support the preparation of reports evaluating the technical and economic feasibility.
  • Maintains familiarity with heat exchanger technology literature and the patent literature related to air cooled heat exchangers. Assists in the preparation of patent disclosures and patent applications as required to protect Air-X-Changers proprietary design and manufacturing methods.
  • Regularly evaluate performance of direct reports. Complete annual performance appraisals for direct reports in accordance with Harsco policies.
  • Travel Required:
    Some travel will be required (customer visits, attending conferences, etc.)

Your Education Should Be


  • Masters Degree in Engineering or closely related discipline

Interpersonal and Technical Skills


  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or specifications, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public
  • Ability to engage in both active listening and learning
  • Ability to use the Microsoft program tools and the company programs used for planning and scheduling work.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, design techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design that exist in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to identifying complex problems, use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems and implement solutions.
  • Analyzes technology trends, staffing needs and market demand to plan projects.
  • Ability to Forecasts operating costs of assigned departments and directs preparation of budget requests

Your Professional Experience Should Be


  • 5-8 years of managerial experience in an Engineer to Order manufacturing environment
