Staff Accountant
Overview
This position reports to the Accounting Manager. Apply intermediate level of general accounting principles to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by compiling information, preparing profit and loss statements and utilizing appropriate control procedures. This position will be located in our Tulsa, Oklahoma office.
Responsibilities
THE FIRST 120 DAYS OF THIS POSITION WILL BE STRONG ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLES, SALES AND USE TAX CROSS TRAINING TO ASSIST WITH A LEAVE OF ABSENCE WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT.
Perform monthly reconciliations and schedules related to the financial statements and closing process; primarily bank account and other balance sheet account reconciliations
Prepare and input journal entries for all areas of Business
Assist in the monthly closing process as directed
May assist in preparing the monthly financial report package to management
Compile month end accruals
Maintain excel percentage of completion project spreadsheets throughout the month
Position will cross train with Accounts Receivable/Use Tax Manager
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business
Master's degree in accounting or finance preferred
3-5 years progressive responsibility in accounting. Knowledge of accounting theories and principles including general ledgers, GAAP journal accounting required. Experience using accounting software programs such as JD Edwards, preferred.
CPA preferred
Must be a Self-Starter
Strong technical accounting and analytical skills
Proficiency in use of Excel
Able to work in dependently on assignments
Basic understanding of project management components
Ability to solve varied, but straight forward problems, selecting solutions from learned range of alternatives
Well organized and detail oriented
Mathematical aptitude
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Advocate of team concept
Able to interact with all levels of management
