We are seeking a highly motivated, driven and ambitious Mechanical Engineer to complement our team. In this start-to-finish position, you will create industrial machines for an OEM supplier utilizing machine design, project management, and Solid Works 3D CAD modeling skills. Projects range from modifications of existing designs to custom solutions for customer needs. Additionally, we will rely on you to produce a mechanical model, drawing, and bill of material package for production to build. Your success will be measured by effectively performing the following:
Design machines that wind and unwind material for the oil and gas, wire, and plastics industries to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
Heavy steel welded frame design.
Material selection based on material science. Most common materials are steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and plastics.
Design of bolted joints.
Purchased component selection.
Electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic drive system design.
Conduct research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems.
Investigate equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation, and provide engineered solutions to solve.
Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.
Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
Direct drafters in developing the structural design of products using drafting tools or computer-assisted design (CAD) or drafting equipment and software.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering

years experience with designing and drafting of machinery
Proficient with Solid Works 3D CAD software
ANSYS finite element analysis FEA a plus.
Skills/Knowledge:
Ability to clear and concise prints and knowledge of principals involved in production of precision technical plans, drawings, and models.
Understanding and proven application of LEAN design principles.
Ability to design for manufacturing (Machining, Fabrication, and Assembly)
Ability to perform mechanical engineering calculations related to statics, dynamics, kinematics, and stress and strain through the use of free body diagrams.
Purchased component selection for bearings, belt drives, gears, chain drives, linear slides, gear boxes, ball screws, acme threads,
Electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic motor selection.
Experience designing and applying tolerances to parts machined on mills and lathes.
Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
Ability to create and conduct test procedures to validate designs.
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
Knowledge of electronic equipment, and PLC and HMI programming a plus.
Experience with identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
