MISSION:
Designs new products and/or improvements to existing product lines, and troubleshoots field or manufacturing problems within a particular field of technology. Maintains favorable relationship with customers to ensure TDWs competitive
position
in the marketplace.
Responsibilities:
Prepares sketches, layouts, and calculations to support the design of new products, improvements to existing products or unique products to special customer requirements, sometimes on short notice.
Guides and provides technical supervision to drafters during the preparation of production drawings ensuring that the design function is achieved. Provides technical assistance to Manufacturing or sub-contract sources when production problems arise.
Works closely with the appropriate engineer during the design stages, coordinating ideas, intent and concepts in a harmonious manner. Works with considerable latitude, even though some technical direction is provided by the engineers.
Designs and prepares necessary sketches/drawings for fabrication of prototype or test models.
Arranges or assists in manufacture of prototype of test models. Arranges for or conducts necessary testing and substantiates test results with proper documentation.
Qualifications:
Must have Associates Degree in field of Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum two years technical experience in particular field of technology; e.g., drafting,
electronics
technician, etc. Prefer minimum of two years design experience.
Ability to perform basic engineering/scientific calculations and capable of using personal computers and CAD.
Self-motivated and creative with a strong desire to bring assignments to successful completion. Must be able to communicate effectively with customers while in stressful situations, both verbally and in writing.
Thorough knowledge of TDW products and their intended use.
