WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER The Partnerships and External Affairs Manager identifies and advances partnerships, project, and business opportunities that facilitate and amplify the advancement of the Oklahoma's land and water conservation priorities and is the lead for developing existing and new tribal partnerships that advance shared goals.
In this vital position you will be a critical advisor, thought partner, project leader, and expert resource for colleagues leading programs focused on water, prairie, forest, and climate change conservation outcomes.
These will include identification and cultivation of key relationships, facilitation of strategic partnerships, development of new and/or innovative funding opportunities and collaborative development of innovative conservation mechanisms.
As the Partnerships and External Affairs Manager, you will be a key point of contact with a wide range of public and private organizations and engage in support of public policy and outreach as appropriate.
At The Nature Conservancy, government partnerships are integral to our work, especially work with Tribal Nations in Oklahoma.
This position will serve as a liaison with Tribal Nations and will help identify and support mutually beneficial conservation projects.
The position will also work with legislators at the tribal, state, and federal levels to advance the Conservancy's work.
The Partnerships and External Affairs position is based in Oklahoma.
The pay range is $70,000 - $78,400, depending on location and experience.
This position reports to the State Director and works collaboratively with TNC programs at the multi-state, national and global levels.
WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU Are you looking for a career that helps people and nature to thrive together? We're looking for a skilled relationship-builder and collaborative leader to help us build and maintain working relationships across agencies, industries, and communities.
You will work with innovative and passionate colleagues, resource managers, Tribal Nations, and a wide range of partners to advance conservation and public policy solutions.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING BA/BS degree and 4 years' experience in conservation practice, public policy, natural resources or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in relationship and partnership development with diverse public and private entities, including tribal nations.
Experience managing complex or multiple projects, initiation and management of budgets, contracts, and agreements.
Communications experience including preparing and presenting project proposals and developing written communications.
Experience negotiating with other agencies, companies, private parties, or related entities.
Additional Qualifications of Interest Knowledge of current conservation issues and challenges in Oklahoma.
Established relationships with Oklahoma's state, federal, and tribal entities and legislators, as well as key organizations and stakeholders.
Knowledge and experience working with Tribal Nations and communities in a culturally appropriate manner.
5-8 years' experience in conservation practice or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of relevant laws, treaties, and policies that affect Tribal Nations and sovereignty in Oklahoma.
WHAT WE BRING Base Salary:
$70,000-$78,400 The successful Partnerships and External Affairs Manager 's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, and experience.
