Collections/AR Specialist - Remote OpportunityJob Summary Responsible for billing and follow up on filed claims in addition to patient balances.
This is to include but not limited to:
generating all electronic and paper clams to either primary or secondary insurance payers for ASC and anesthesia services.
The timely follow-up of filed claims or patient statements for timely payment.
Responding to any denial, either from the carrier or within clearinghouse and solving said claim for payment.
Sending any account to the designated collection agency when no payment or arrangement is made by the patient.
Researching credit balances for accuracy and processing for refund payment, if applicable.
Timely reporting to direct supervisor any trends or challenges in performing daily tasks.
Continued engagement with supervisor regarding older and aged accounts and preventing accounts from rolling into 120-day bucket, which is then classified as bad debt per policy.
Essential Functions:
Interacts with insurance payers, patients, other business office personnel, ASC staff, physicians, and executive leadership regarding any one centers AR position.
Project a professional and positive image in person or over the phone with all contacts Consistently works the credit balances to be less than 10% of accounts receivable.
Ability to work effectively, and identify and analyze claim problems, either rejection from clearinghouse or denial from payer.
Keeps informed of all Medicare, Medicaid and third-party payer regulations or medical policies which could impact payment or reimbursement.
Successfully reduces days in AR and meets assigned goals.
Responds to additional assigned duties as requested.
Other duties as assigned.
Education/Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent 1 year of general medical experience required.
ASC or anesthesia billing preferred.
Knowledge of procedures to verify patient insurance and obtain authorization for services as needed.
Certified biller is a plus.
