We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Driver Orientation Instructor to join our team.
As a Driver Orientation Instructor, you will play a critical role in training and orienting newly hired drivers, ensuring they possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and confidence to perform their duties safely and effectively.
You will be responsible for delivering comprehensive orientation programs, conducting training sessions, and evaluating driver performance.
Your expertise and guidance will contribute to the professional development of our drivers and the overall success of our organization.
Duties & Responsibilities Create a Safety culture with the drivers and drivers' support throughout the company.
Develop and update driver orientation programs and training materials, ensuring they align with company policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
Conduct engaging and informative orientation sessions to educate new drivers on company policies, safety protocols, vehicle operations, route planning, customer service, and other relevant topics.
Deliver comprehensive safety training programs, emphasizing defensive driving techniques, accident prevention, and emergency response procedures.
Safely and efficiently transport orientation drivers to and from the designated hotel, following designated routes and schedules.
Ensure drivers understand and adhere to applicable laws, regulations, and company policies, such as hours of service regulations, drug and alcohol testing requirements, and vehicle inspection procedures.
Assess driver performance through observation of on-road skills and skills assessment.
Provide constructive feedback and guidance to drivers to improve their performance and maintain safety standards.
Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes.
Identify areas for improvement in training programs and implement enhancements to ensure the effectiveness and relevance of driver orientation.
Collaborate with other departments, such as operations, human resources, and safety, to coordinate training efforts and ensure consistent messaging and practices throughout the organization.
Provide ongoing support and mentorship to new drivers, addressing their questions, concerns, and challenges during their orientation period.
Continuously enhance your own knowledge and skills through professional development opportunities, attending relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions.
Teach Load Securement class, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of X years of experience as a professional driver, preferably with experience in commercial transportation.
Proven experience in delivering effective training programs, preferably in a transportation or logistics environment.
Experience in adult learning principles, instructional design, and curriculum development is desirable.
Strong understanding of transportation regulations, safety protocols, and industry best practices.
Familiarity with DOT regulations and compliance requirements is highly preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present information clearly and effectively.
Comfortable conducting group training sessions and addressing diverse audiences.
Demonstrated ability to provide constructive feedback, evaluate performance, and guide individuals toward improvement.
Strong interpersonal skills to establish rapport and build relationships with drivers.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
Attention to detail is critical for accurate record-keeping and documentation.
Willingness to adapt training methods and materials to meet the diverse learning needs of drivers.
Ability to adjust schedules and training plans as per operational requirements.
Comfortable using computer applications and software for training material development, record-keeping, and reporting.
