Senior Estimator in Tulsa, OK
Job Description:
o Provides leadership for the bid review and estimating process.
o Seeks potential projects to bid on, updates and maintains bid logs.
o Determines the scope of work and accurate quantities, including cost, prior to bid review.
o Develops a complete understanding of all project requirements.
o Reviews bid quantities, scope of work, specifications, plans, and bid documents.
o Reviews estimates and job scope to prepare proper paperwork for project commencement.
o Conducts site visits, gathers relevant information, and attends pre-bid meetings.
o Solicits material suppliers and subcontractors for quotes/proposals.
o Reviews quotes/proposals to determine accuracy and scope gaps.
o Executes bid book, including all supporting bid documents, including bid bond.
o Prepares estimates using HeavyBid, inputting labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
o Performs detailed take-offs of plans utilizing estimating software (e.
g.
, Bluebeam, Stack, Earthworks, etc.
).
o Maintains open communication with engineers, Superintendents, and Project Managers.
o Reviews and acknowledges Addendum/CM Clarifications.
o Communicates with management on any issues that may arise during scoping and estimating projects.
o Follows up on submitted proposals/bids and tries to determine competitiveness.
o Imports HeavyBid budget into HeavyJob.
o Compiles a list of material suppliers and subcontractors to be utilized on the project.
o Conducts project hand-off meetings to Project Managers, including project plans, SOV specifications, supporting documents, and assumptions made during the estimating process.
o Supports project management, including clarifications, change orders, and quantity calculations as needed.
o Provides reports and feedback to management as needed.
o Develops a strategy with management for different business verticals.
o Reviews accuracy of bid production rates and appropriate mark-ups.
o Updates HeavyBid (e.
g.
, Labor, Equipment, and Fuel Rates).
o Develops and maintains effective relationships with customers, subcontractors, and suppliers that reflect and support the company's core values.

o Strong communication and organizational skills.
o Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
o Thorough understanding of cost accounting principles and procedures.
o Ability to read and understand project specifications, plans, and blueprints.
o Knowledge of construction, including materials and methods needed to complete projects successfully.
Experience and Education Requirements:
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
o Ability to use a smart device.
o Prior experience with estimating is required, preferably with a city or other civic municipality.
o Knowledge of HeavyBid Estimating Software is a plus.
o Must have a valid driver's license.
o Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering, or a similar field with 10
years of estimating and/or project management experience on civil construction projects.
