This position will provide English/Spanish interpreter and translation services to Limited English Proficiency (LEP) clients within Early Intervention.
Duties:
Assists SoonerStart families and early intervention teams by providing interpreting for appointments in the child's natural environment (home, childcare etc.
), evaluations, phone calls, and emails etc.
Or any space SoonerStart families may need interpreting regarding Early Intervention services.
Travel to the child's natural environment to deliver interpretation services.
Keep an up-to-date calendar for scheduling appointments with Service Providers and Service Coordinators.
Uses culturally appropriate and family-centered behavior and language when communicating.
Serves as the cultural mediator.
Translates written information and mails out contact letters and inactivate letters for Service Coordinators in the native language for families who speak Spanish.
Uses verbal, virtual, phone, e-mail, text, and fax to communicate with others.
Demonstrates knowledge of and supports mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

Minimum
Qualifications:
One year of work experience as an interpreter with the ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in the client's natural environment (home, childcare etc.
).
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to talk, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
This position requires travel and daily use of a computer and phone.
Telework:
This position is not eligible for Telework and is subject to OSDH policy and supervisor's discretion.
