Job
Summary:
The Patient Companion sits with patients that are on suicide precautions, have eating disorders, have an Adult Detention Order or are of harm to themselves or others.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification:
None.
Work
Experience:
0 - 6 months related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Essential Functions and
Responsibilities:
Observes and reports patient's condition, activities, and needs to licensed nurse accurately and in a timely manner.
Organizes and prioritizes tasks for maximum efficiency and patient comfort.
Demonstrates knowledge appropriate to patient population, including notifying staff when needing to leave patient room.
Performs environmental activities to maintain and clean and orderly patient room/unit.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Supports unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities.
Decision Making:
Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.
Working Relationships:
Works directly with patients and/or customers.
Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
