Overview:
Evaluate, validate, and recommend manufacturing technology, machinery, equipment, tooling, fixtures, and facility changes in order to improve manufacturing processes & quality, techniques, and cost effectiveness, ensuring highest quality, lowest cost products.
Responsibilities:
Analyzes processes in order to identify improvement opportunities in flow, throughput times, and productivity, Verifies and validates improvement measures are implemented to ensure that expected results are realized utilizing DMAIC principles, Designs product flow lines, manufacturing cells, and grouped work centers in order to alleviate bottlenecks, Assists overall product designing, ensuring manufacturability and fiscal efficiency of the product utilizing DFM/A, PFMEA, and Control Plan input; Leads cross-functional strategic projects (e.
g.
, plant re-arrangement, global expansions, remote manufacturing site development, etc.
), Assists with cost estimates and routing generation & modification, Develops core competencies, equipment selection & justification, factory layout optimization, and new manufacturing technology studies for cost and productivity improvements, Participates in measurement and monitoring methods in alignment with ISO9001 and other improvement initiatives; Supports all new product technology programs as they move from development to production, Participates in and supports HSE projects and procedures, including Behavior Observations, Training, Ergonomics, and Investigations.
Knowledge, skills & abilities required Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (or related) required, 3-8 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, Proficiency with manufacturing processes and processes improvement methods (e.
g.
, PDCA, DMAIC, 6 Sigma, Lean, 5S, etc.
), Shop based, machining process experience (Preferred) Experience and proficiency with engineering software (e.
g.
, SolidWorks, Microsoft AZ Dynamics,, etc.
), Understanding of GD&T and inspection methods, Strong business orientation, Ability to work closely and communicate with all levels of the organization, Intermediate MS Word, Excel, and Outlook skills; familiarity with MS Access.
