The Assistant Chief Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the engineering team.
In the absence of the Chief, the assistant will assume the hotel's administrative, financial, and operating aspects as they relate to engineering.
The Assistant Chief Engineerwill maintain and supervise the hotel's maintenance operations, including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, heating and cooling, energy controls, and efficiency.
The position is also responsible for maintaining standards as required by the city and the brand.
Ideal candidates will have major brand experience and a positive, solution-based focus.
This position requires flexible scheduling availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Expectations Provides professional and courteous guest service at all times.
Supervises maintenance operations including but not limited to refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, preventative maintenance, hotel front and back of house spaces, A/C units, ice machines, lighting, kitchen equipment, emergency generator, roof exhausts, electrical substations, fire and life safety systems, and other systems and equipment owned, leased or managed by the hotel.
Monitors electric, gas, oil, and water consumption on a prescribed basis.
Monitor inventory levels, ordering new supplies as needed and maintaining a log of supplies used and purchased.
Ensures that all purchased services, electrical, plumbing, cleaning, etc.
are performed.
Supervises assigned associates.
Assists with departmental scheduling.
Ensures all projects are completed according to specifications and are completed on time.
Maintains an ongoing preventive maintenance program for guestrooms, meeting rooms, public space back of the house spaces, kitchens, and all hotel equipment.
Ensures cleanliness and orderliness of all workspace and storage areas.
Covers the Departmental Responsibilities whenever the Chief is unavailable or absent.
Attends staff and departmental meetings.
Complete projects as determined by the Chief Engineer.
Qualifications At least 5 to 8 years of progressive facilities management experience in a hotel or a related field High School Diploma HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance skills are required.
Licensing is required.
Plan and direct the work of others.
Solve problems using facts and personal judgment.
React quickly in emergency situations and make decisions that may involve the safety of others.
Work with different kinds of people.
Be available on nights, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands:
Lifting 50 lbs.
maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing.
Language Skills:
Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to:
Read instructions, safety rules, etc.
Write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.
Use correct English and a well-modulated voice to speak with poise, voice control, and confidence.
The anticipated compensation range for the position is $50K to $55 per year.
The salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc.
