Manage the employment and training needs of participants in the Career Advance Program, responsible for assisting and directing participants with upgrading skills to meet standards for successful employment. Enrolls, case manages, assists participants in overcoming obstacles, provides career counseling, and facilitates peer support throughout training and placement. Sets precedent within limits and/or administers operating rules and procedures under management guidance. Performs intermediate troubleshooting or analysis; problems require interpretation of data using generally prescribed procedures. Frequent interaction to provide basic information and/or occasional interaction requiring detailed procedural explanations or technical responses.
Responsibilities/
Essential Functions:
Coordinates participants' overall progress and compliance with program objectives through the program, including recruitment, enrollment, skills and interest assessments, setting career goals, counseling and support (both for individuals and in group cohorts), and ensuring access to appropriate training opportunities
Works with other program staff and training providers to match participants' skills and interests to appropriate training opportunities, including, English as a Second language (ESL) instruction, Adult Basic Education, instruction in life skills and career readiness preparation
Coordinates services and referrals with family support specialist, assigned by Early Childhood Program, assists participants in selecting and registering for classes, accessing financial aid, and obtaining other academic supports (e.g. tutoring, study skills, etc.), encourages peer support and team-building
Advocates on behalf of program participants with training providers and employers in order to achieve employment/training objectives, provides follow up and retention activities to families, employers and or case managers to facilitate job retention
Assists participants in overcoming obstacles to successful program completion and make appropriate referrals when necessary, including scheduling problems, transportation breakdowns, access to financial resources, family crises, child care needs, and other life events.
Disburses financial assistance and incentive payments to program participants, when appropriate
Regularly enters case notes and data into a database, collects data related to participant progress and results measurement, and provides regular communication, data and progress reports to the Project Coordinator, Ray Marshall Center staff, partners, funders, and other relevant stakeholders.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, human resources, psychology, sociology, or related field
3 years of prerequisite related work experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Must have proven successful interpersonal relationship skills to maintain effective and satisfactory working relationships with intra-department and inter-department staff, vendors, clients, visitors, and contractors.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions with ability to read, interpret, and present information efficiently and effectively.
Must be able to accurately audit records and ensure compliance with written or oral guidelines.
Ability to take initiative, multi-task and work well under pressure.
Must maintain strict confidentiality of extremely sensitive data, records, files, conversations, etc. Intermediate-Advanced MS Office skills, working knowledge of accounting and budgeting practices.
Advanced organizational skills, efficiency skills and excellent attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to completing assignments on a timely basis.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
