Responsibilities:
Works with various machine tools (primarily CNC mill and lathe equipment), assorted hand tools, measuring devices, and tool steels and carbides to produce parts from raw materials in bars or flat forms, casting and forging materials, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and plastics.
Works from blueprints and instructions to perform shaping and threading of parts to drawing tolerances.
Performs necessary machine shop math computation.
Works with and completes job order forms.
Maintains a clean, orderly work area, ensuring TDW safety standards are maintained.
Qualifications:
High-school diploma or GED firmly required; prefer vo/tech or other technical training certification.
2-3 years of previous experience with CNC lathe and/or mill equipment is firmly required.
A strong safety orientation is required.
Must be able to read blueprints and work to drawing tolerances. Capable of necessary machine shop math computation.
Must be able to set up feeds, speeds, tools and measuring devices.
Must be able to use all precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, to perform in-process inspection of own work.
Must be able to pass a DOT physical and make appropriate use of lifting equipment.
Previous experience with Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is preferred, but not required.
